On February 17, 2024, the DMO Karakalpakstan team visited Samarkand as part of a trip organized by GIZ. One of the key events was a meeting with master's students of the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.

During the meeting, we introduced students to the tourism potential of Karakalpakstan, its unique natural and cultural attractions, and our ongoing efforts to develop tourism in the region. Special attention was given to the importance of destination management and the need for cooperation between government institutions, businesses, and educational organizations to ensure the sustainable development of the tourism industry.

The master's students showed great interest in the topic, asking questions about internship opportunities in Karakalpakstan, prospects for eco- and ethno-tourism, and the promotion of new tourism routes. We also discussed opportunities for collaboration, experience exchange, and potential initiatives aimed at increasing awareness of our region’s tourism potential.

We express our gratitude to GIZ for organizing this trip and to the administration of the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage for their warm welcome! We hope this meeting will serve as a foundation for fruitful cooperation in the future.
