On January 14, 2026, a seminar-training titled “Modern Standards of Service and Hospitality” was held in the conference hall of the Massaget Hotel. The event was organized by the public association DMO Karakalpakstan within the framework of the “QR Gastronomic Quality” project.
DMO Karakalpakstan is the winner of the social order competition of the Public Fund for the Support of Civil Society Institutions under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and is implementing the project “QR Gastronomic Quality: Assessment and Improvement of the Gastronomic Quality of Tourism Services to Enhance the Attractiveness of Karakalpakstan”. The project aims to improve the quality of gastronomic services and develop the tourism potential of the region.
The seminar was attended by owners and managers of cafés, restaurants, and teahouses, waiters, hostesses, floor managers, representatives of gastronomic projects, as well as young people interested in the service industry.
As part of the program, participants were introduced to modern standards of restaurant service, the role of hospitality in shaping customer experience, and international service practices in restaurants in France, Italy, Japan, Turkey, and the United States. Special attention was paid to comparing international standards with public catering practices in Uzbekistan.
Separate program blocks focused on handling complaints and conflict situations, developing communication skills with guests, and considering service as an important marketing tool and competitive advantage for restaurants, including the impact of service quality on online reviews and the establishment’s reputation.
Following the seminar, participants mastered the basic principles of the QR Gastronomic Quality system, received practical tools to improve service quality, and gained an understanding of which international service elements can be adapted to local specifics.
The organization of such events contributes to the sustainable development of gastronomic tourism and enhances the attractiveness of Karakalpakstan as a tourist destination.
