On October 29, 2025, a seminar on the development of gastronomic tourism was held, organized by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) together with DMO KARAKALPAKSTAN.

The public association DMO KARAKALPAKSTAN, which is actively working on the development of tourism destinations in Karakalpakstan, is currently implementing a project on the development of gastronomic tourism in the region, commissioned by the Public Fund under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Within the framework of this project, a seminar with the participation of an international expert was organized on October 29.

The event brought together employees of DMO KARAKALPAKSTAN, members of the Youth Club established by the association, representatives of travel agencies, and representatives of the Republican Children’s School “Barkamol Avlod”.

The seminar was led by international tourism and regional development consultant Eike Otto. The expert gave a presentation on methods for developing Community-Based Tourism (CBT) and gastronomic tourism, and provided practical recommendations for increasing tourist flows and improving the quality of services.

As part of the program, participants visited a number of locations in the city and district of Nukus that have potential to become tourist attractions, including souvenir production sites and gastronomic facilities.

At the end of the seminar, participants received recommendations for creating, promoting, and developing new tour packages, as well as for increasing the flow of tourists to the region. The seminar also highlighted the potential of local initiatives to advance cultural, ecological and gastronomic tourism.
