Following technical consultations held earlier this week, a high-level working meeting took place in Tashkent to review the preliminary concept for sustainable tourism development in Nukus.
The strategic vision and key spatial concepts of the project were presented by the French architectural firm INCA Studio, which is developing the project on behalf of the French Development Agency (AFD).
The meeting was attended by T. Yusupov and A. Kaipnazarov, Deputy Chairmen of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as representatives of government bodies and foundations. M. Kosnazarov, Director of the public association DMO Karakalpakstan, joined the meeting online from Nukus.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the conceptual approach to creating a multifunctional cultural quarter integrated with the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan named after I. V. Savitsky. The project's main objective is to create a unified cultural and tourism space that brings together the region's rich cultural heritage, local traditions, and unique natural landscapes.
The implementation of this concept aims to enrich the urban environment, enhance Nukus's tourism appeal, and strengthen its position as a regional tourism hub.
DMO Karakalpakstan highlights the importance of the solutions proposed by INCA Studio, which reflect the region's distinctive identity and tourism potential. Cooperation among all stakeholders provides a foundation for the sustainable development of tourism in Karakalpakstan.
