This week, the DMO Karakalpakstan team continued its work in Arbashy village. Practical activities are being carried out in cooperation with local residents and specialists to restore degraded land and promote the efficient use of natural resources.

In collaboration with specialists from the Centre for Agrochemical Analysis of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, land plots were surveyed and soil samples were collected. The results of the analyses will help identify the most appropriate solutions for land restoration and its future use.

At the same time, meetings were held with local residents to discuss the current condition of the area, key challenges, and the solutions most needed by the community.

Particular attention is also being paid to energy supply. An energy audit was conducted in Arbashy to assess the existing infrastructure and explore opportunities for using solar energy. Together with expert Javohir Kodirov, the team is examining where and how solar technologies can be applied most effectively.

While specialists continue surveying the area and carrying out the necessary assessments and calculations, repair and improvement works are also ongoing in the village.

Activities are being carried out across several interconnected areas: land, water, energy, and local community participation. The findings of the assessments provide a basis for moving forward to the next practical stages of the project.

The project is being implemented by DMO Karakalpakstan with the support of UNOPS under the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP).
