On September 3, 2026, the final public event of the project “Youth and Women – Permanent Ambassadors of Tourism in Karakalpakstan” implemented by the Public Association “DMO Karakalpakstan” with financial support from the European Union, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and the “Yuksalish” Movement, was held in the conference hall of the MASSAGET Hotel in Nukus.

The event was attended by representatives of government authorities, tourism businesses, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the “Hunarmand” Association, non-governmental and non-profit organizations, mass media, trainers, as well as participants of the project competition.

M.I. Kosnazarov, Director of the Public Association “DMO Karakalpakstan,” highlighted the importance of the implemented project and its role in promoting sustainable tourism. Project Coordinator B. Kutlymuratov presented information on the activities carried out and the results achieved.

During the meeting, representatives of the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan responsible for tourism, culture, cultural heritage and mass communications, the Tourism Department, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the “Hunarmand” Association shared their views and proposals on further developing tourism, improving the activities of tourism companies and tourist routes, as well as supporting entrepreneurial initiatives. Representatives of the tourism business sector and non-governmental and non-profit organizations also shared their proposals and opinions on the results of the project.

One of the key outcomes of the project was a series of training sessions attended by 33 participants selected based on submitted applications from various districts of Karakalpakstan and the city of Nukus. During the trainings, participants enhanced their knowledge and practical skills in sustainable tourism and had the opportunity to develop their own entrepreneurial initiatives.

Particular attention within the project was given to supporting entrepreneurial initiatives. Eighteen participants presented their business ideas, of which seven projects were selected as winners and received subsidies of UZS 2,500,000 each. To date, the winners have already begun implementing their entrepreneurial initiatives.

At the end of the event, project participants shared their feedback on the knowledge and skills they had acquired, emphasizing the practical value of the training sessions and other project activities.

Overall, the project played an important role in increasing the participation of young people and women in the development of sustainable tourism, supporting their entrepreneurial initiatives, and promoting the tourism potential of Karakalpakstan. In turn, the Public Association “DMO Karakalpakstan” expressed its readiness to continue implementing new projects aimed at further developing the tourism sector of the region.
